Galaxy Explorer Volunteer8/29/2020 Program Name: Galaxy Explorer at the Chabot Space and Science Center Type: Volunteer Grade: 9 - 11th Program Overview: The Galaxy Explorer program provides high school students with an opportunity for hands-on, fun community service work while giving them a chance to develop their job skills, increase their STEM knowledge, and enhance public speaking. The program is a year round commitment and Galaxy Explorers are required to participate in a minimum of 8 hours of enrichment per month. Estimated Program Date: TBD Eligibility and Requirements: - Participants should have an interest in science, math, or technology. - Applicants must have completed the 8th grade. Oakland middle school students are invited to participate in our Champions of Science program. - Ability to speak to and work with visitors of all ages and backgrounds. - A minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 is required in order to participate. - Minimum commitment of eight hours per month. - Must be able to start GE volunteer service during current enrollment period. Target Group: High school students with interest in science, math or technology and willingness to take on leadership role. Application Detail: Chabot Space & Science Center’s spring enrollment period for high school volunteers has concluded. Please check back in September for future enrollment opportunities.
